VRC population, listing of important planets
The VRC has colonised four planets which are in various stages of being
terraformed. In accordance with the VRC's charter these planets are located
in systems which form a line from the Royal Dutch Commonwealth towards
the rim.
System LTT 2380, planet PB 2380.4(Goede Hoop/Bright Hope)
First system colonised by the VRC and closest to the
RDC. Terraforming is almost complete. Has sizeable population and industries.
This system is currently the main base of operations. It also contains a
minor shipyard.
System BD+10'1050, planet PB 1050.1(Tweede Kans/Second Chance)
Second system a bit further away. Terraforming is coming
along nicely.
System LTT 11585, supply station SS 11585.1
This is one of many similar stations placed by the VRC throughout this
sector of space. The most important role of this station is as a resting
and refitting place on the long voyage towards LTT 11655.
System LTT 11655, planets PB 11655.1a(Nieuw Paradijs/New Paradise) and
PB 11655.1b(nickname: the Dark Side)
Third system, even further away. A lucky find
with two perfectly habitable planets. The location of this system is kept
secret because of its potential and possible implications though. Both
planets have the same size and occupy the same orbit, but on different
sides of the sun. Both planets have exactly the same biosphere: no birds,
non-hazardous insect life and the same land- and sea-based plant life.
Planet PB 11655.1b also contains a lot of land-based, rather dangerous,
animal life.
Somebody has been here before...
Work is in progress to make system LTT 11655 a second main base of operations,
with a new major shipyard
under construction around planet Nieuw Paradijs. Planet
PB 11655.1b is left
alone as it is too dangerous for regular habitation. It is however used as
a training ground for commando units, as it provides the perfect surroundings
for advanced survival training.
In these systems, and in systems surrounding them, lots of mining operations
are being conducted.
System LTT 11655 is currently in use for further deep space explorations.
There are also several space stations in systems belonging to trading partners,
which operate as trading posts.
Population
Immigration policy and recruitment are one and the same. Everybody living on
company planets or installations is a company employee. All people who want
to work for the company first have to do one tour in the military (after
being trained thoroughly). This helps create a big potential reserve
of military personel, and it also helps to weed out anybody who isn't a team
player. After their first tour they can apply for a civilian job or choose
a military career. When choosing a military career they will have to do a
second tour, and if successfull will go on to professional training.
Anybody born within the company automatically becomes an employee. Employee benefits
are such that noone has yet wanted to leave.
Population is mainly Dutch. Immigrants come from a variety of nationalities,
but the most important groups are the minorities from the NAC and NSL.
