Ghurkas
Some time ago several guys on the GZG mailing list came together to order a
set of Ghurkas through Eureka's
club100 deal. This was done on the initiative
of Tom Barclay who also made the pictures on this page.
The Ghurkas have been sculpted by Mike Broadbent. They were so successfull
that they have been promoted from club100 to official SG2
status.
The current listing of available figures is:

As you can see there a a lot of snipers. This is because the first set of
infantry men was equiped with sniper rifles instead of regular rifles by
accident:-)
There are some pictures of the front and
back of the snipers (both are bare metal).

More Ghurkas(second attempt)
This is a second attempt at getting some more Ghurkas through
Eureka's club100 system.
Before actually trying to enter anything into the club100 I am first
finding out whether there is any interest in any particular models so
that we can get something viable going.
There are already several Ghurkas available, so it will be relatively easy to
have variants of those made. I am also interested in prone Ghurkas, but this
would require a completely new pose to be made.
Please note the following:
- Nic at Eureka has just posted them in the
club100.
- Unless noted every item needs a commitment of 150 figures or 150/4=37.5
sets before it is taken into production.
- Price per figure will be AUS$3.-, but they need to be ordered in sets.
- You will note that all proposals contain an item with prone figures. You
can't blame me for trying. However, I have tried not to let this influence the
figure mix of the other items I put together. Much.
- I put some regular rifles here and there in order to avoid that the final
figure mix of the ghurka range becomes too heavy with heavy weapons.
Compromise proposal
- Prone ghurkas (new pose), sniper w. pulse laser, L7A3 combat rifle,
observer w. binoculars, 3-round missile launcher, 150 figures or 37.5 sets
required,
set of 4.
- Variants of existing ghurkas, 2 mortar crew (kneeling), 3-round missile
launcher (standing),
infantry plasma gun, L5 SAW, shotgun, 225 figures or 37.5 sets required,
set of 6.
- RAM mortar and ammo packs, existing model, so no club100 needed, price
AUS$???, to be ordered separately.
NAC/Ghurka weapon references
The following weapons are already in use with various NAC and/or Ghurka figures:
- standard L7A3 combat rifle
- L5 SAW support weapon on gyromount (SGA-68)
- single round IAVR GMS/P (SGA-69)
- combat shotgun (SGA-19c)
- 3-round missile launcher GMS/P (SGA-12a)
- RAM mortar and ammo packs (SGA-45)
- Pulse laser sniper rifle (SGA-72a)
- Infantry plasma gun(PIG) (SGA-07a)
Variant suggestions and other things
The following poses were suggested as sources for variants:
- mortar crew (SGA-66, SGA-70)
- assault gun (SGA-61, SGA-62, SGA-64)
I didn't put in the following as these might be better suited for a separate
project, a followup project, or they just didn't help get the right mix of
figures:
- NAC noncoms in jungle outfit and floppy hats
- Prone figures with SAW, plasma gun or shotgun
- Variant figure with binoculars
Status
From the gzg-l list, TMP and the yahoo SG/FT group:
- Commitments: myself(3 each), Derk(2 each?), Jeff(5 each),
Chris(4 each, maybe more), James(10 each)
- Interested: Tony, Adrian, Dave, NazRat, AlienSurfer
- Unconfirmed: TomB
Final choice was made by be with input from Jeff and Chris.

- The prone set (4 figures) is currently at 50+, out of a necessary 150
figures / 37.5 sets.
- The heavy weapons set (4 figures) is currently at 100+, out of a
necessary 225 figures / 37.5 sets.
